Councils pissing taxpayers money away:

A council has been slammed for wasting taxpayers' money on a new DVD which shows people how to put rubbish in their bins.

The 10-minute film, which is to be delivered free to residents near Blackpool, highlights what can and cannot go into wheelie bins.

But opposition councillors and tax campaigners say the scheme - which cost £2,130 - is ‘ridiculous’ and ‘needless’.

The film can be viewed on Fylde and Wyre councils' websites, as well as on internet movie site YouTube.

So far it has had 12 hits.

Fylde opposition leader Coun Liz Oades said she was stunned by the film, and says if the borough cut down on small waste it may have been able to keep the recently closed St Annes swimming pool open.

‘I really think the money could be spent in a lot better and more effective way,’ she said.

‘I don't understand why the council couldn't just get the message out via the press for free.

‘These small amounts of money that are wasted all add up. Maybe if these small amounts were reduced we may have been able to keep the baths open.’

**Money being thrown away again, this is taxpayers money used to tell those very same taxpayers on how to use a bin. Oh for fucks sake.

Talk about patronising bullshit.

I found this on the council site:link
The 'Recycling 4 Wyre' film is now available to view on the council's website at www.wyrebc.gov.uk/Find/57842 and on the council's YouTube site www.youtube.com/wyreboroughcouncil. In addition copies of the DVD are available free to residents on request. For further details residents should contact the council direct on 01253 891000.
Lets hope lots of residents call them up and demand some one resign over this.

And having been sent this eggsucking instructional DVD, what's the betting that the council have no facilities for recycling the fucking thing?

Its basically an instruction manual on how to turn your house into a recycling plant, great if you have nothing better to do, (which most on benefits don't), but the rest of us work for a living and don't have that time.

When the majority of these items are delivered to the recycling plant, they have either machines or people who are paid to do nothing other than separate out a from b, wash and clean etc.

What the hell are we paying our council taxes for if we are doing all the damn work for them.

Am I thinking that the onus of responsibility is on the wrong foot here. Having paid for the service it is up to the service provider to do this work, not the householder.
