MP Expenses...Hiding behind a three line whip.

Cyclops Brown has imposed a three line whip – which means Labour MPs will be obliged to support the proposals.

These lazy thieving bastards will use the excuse that well they support the idea of letting us know on what they are spending our money, but well its a three line whip 'innit. I had to vote with the party on this.

Here is an idea, knock an e-mail up then pop it across to the fat/lazy/pushy/dim witted/total waste of human skin that is your local MP at writetothem.com and let them know that you are watching and will be kicking up a stink should your local fat/lazy/pushy/dim witted/total waste of human skin that is your local MP tries be a cunt an try an hide their expenses.

You can also join a Facebook Group to protest as well.

As Guido says...

They claim that it would be too expensive to account for all expenditure - try putting that on your tax return. Some MPs are taking it upon themselves to voluntarily publish ALL their expenses, some will not, draw your own conclusions.  "If they have done nothing wrong, they have nothing to hide...
They claim it would be to expensive, well come on we paid as taxpayers over £80 million to MP's in assorted perks sorry expenses, so that argument is meaningless.

One possible saving could be the £400 food allowance. Thats £400 per month for each and every MP in the House, no wonder we have so many lardy MP's waddling about The Commons.

Secondly if they are serious about making savings how about culling the £5.5 million subsidyof taxpayers hard earned cash used on Commons bars. Oh and that was just for 2007/08. All the details can be found here. Also think of all the health benefits for the fat porkers that make up our elected MP's! I for one am not happy at their having to pay for "quantitative drinking" with regards their bars.

Also travel, do they really need to travel 1st class whenever they move from point a to point b? Having seen a few of them surrounded by attendants and assorted hangers on I wonder if they are attempting to emulate some official from the former Chinese imperial court, rather than an MP in The Commons? Mind you they could have been rent boys?

Harriet Harman, the leader of the house, got Jack Straw, the justice secretary, to table a parliamentary order that will exempt all MPs and peers from having to release detailed expenses under the Freedom of Information Act.
The order, which will come into force 24 hours after being debated next week in parliament, will stop in its tracks all the victories won by campaigners and journalists to bring full transparency to individual MPs' expenditure on travel, equipping their second or constituency homes, staffing, office details and individual travel receipts by air, rail and car.

The timing is extraordinary. The parliamentary authorities were poised to release a mindboggling 1.2m pieces of papers detailing three years' individual expenses after a two-year battle covering all but the Sinn Féin MPs. The public had already had a foretaste of what was come last year when a limited release of expenditure for a small number of MPs revealed lots of detail - from the £1,920 pergola and plants ordered by Margaret Beckett for her constituency home to Barbara Follett, the wife of the successful author, Ken Follett, and Labour MP for Stevenage claiming £1,600 for cleaning the windows of her London home.

Now none of this will become public, and all existing FOI requests will be blocked. There is an alternative disclosure scheme planned but it will not provide the detail. And the public suspicion of MPs will grow. Everyone will think their elected representatives have something to hide.
Previous posts on this: post 1, post 2, post 3, post 4 and I glad to announce an EDM on this matter has appeared:

EDM 492—primarily sponsored by Jo Swinson—is now up on the Parliament EDM site.
EDM 492 - FREEDOM OF INFORMATION (PARLIAMENT) ORDER 2009
19.01.2009

Swinson, Jo

That this House notes with concern the provisions in the Freedom of Information (Parliament) Order 2009 to remove the expenses of hon. Members and Peers from the scope of the Freedom of Information Act; notes that this Order singles out hon. Members and Peers in a special category as the only public officials who will not have to disclose full details of their expenses; further notes the High Court judgement of 16th May 2008 and subsequent reassurances to hon. Members that expenses would be published in full by autumn 2008; further notes with concern the regressive effect of this Order on parliamentary transparency and the detrimental impact it will have on Parliament in the eyes of the public; and calls on Ministers to block or repeal the Order in the interest of hon. Members' and Peers' accountability to members of the public.
Lastly I will add that one the one hand we have a government running adverts on the telly saying if you fiddle benefits you risk a criminal record, whilst on the other they seek to cover up how they spend our cash.

**Update the shifty one eyed fucker PM James Gordon Cyclops Brown has withdrawn the three line whip, no doubt to look at some other way of covering up expenses. He has seen the annoyance and done what he does best, bottled the affair.

You could cast a gase with the Hubble space telescope to look for his so called courage and not see it. Maybe he should convince himself he has some and write another book entitled "Courage"...

All New Labour MP's are thieving lying scum, hiding their expense, expense paid for from our taxes. Part of a nomenklatura supporting a leader out of touch with reality.
