All equal under the law? Well, er no.

It used to be that if you did something wrong, you were arrested and took your chances up before the courts to establish your guilt or innocence.

All fair enough, not a perfect system but one that has served us well enough for many a year.

Of late we have seen the MP's getting away with theft, fraud and God alone knows what else. If one was caught in a white slavery operation in the papers next week, I for one would not be surprised.

Now we are seeing the police following in the MP's footsteps.

Metropolitan Police chiefs agreed a secret amnesty for more than a thousand officers and staff who misused corporate credit cards.

An internal audit found that 1,183 Scotland Yard employees broke rules governing the use of American Express charge cards.

Senior officers were so overwhelmed by the number of cases that they decided the card holders would not be punished.

The staff, most of whom worked in counter terrorism and other specialist crime inquiries, were given “training and guidance” instead. continues

So if I were to "misuse" - they mean steal money - a corporate credit card, I would also expect an amnesty from the law? Not likely, same way that MP's can get their kitchens gratis off the taxpayer whilst we have to pay for theft.

Theft is theft is theft. Just depends on ones job as to the punishment or lack of.
