Jim Fitzpatrick storms out of muslim wedding.

The Daily Mail reports that: A Labour minister has reacted with fury after he and his wife were ordered into separate rooms at a Muslim wedding.

Jim Fitzpatrick stormed out of the London Muslim Centre after being told that strict Islamic rules meant his wife Sheila would have to move into another room.

The minister for food and farming, who was attending a constituent's wedding at the centre, claimed the segregation of men and women at such events was affecting 'social cohesion'.

He accused the centre in Whitechapel, east London, of imposing tough new segregation rules which Muslims in the community did not want.

'The segregation of men and women didn't used to be as much of a strong feature,' said Mr Fitzpatrick, the MP for Poplar and Canning Town.

'We've been attending Muslim weddings together for years but only recently has this strict line been taken.

'But it is an indication of the stricter application of rules that is taking place that didn't exist before.'

He blamed controversial Muslim organisation the Islamic Forum of Europe, which is based in the same building, for the ruling.

He said the group, which promotes Sharia law, had a 'stranglehold influence' on the centre.

He insisted: 'It is a disappointment. I think the stranglehold influence of the IFE is present more than ever before.

Now Jim blames this group and yet the centre's website says 'free mixing' of men and women is not permitted at weddings.

Spokesman Mohammed Shakir said: 'Our policy has not changed. We hire out the facilities but it is down to the bride and groom what they do.'

Oh well there go's the muslim vote come election time, enjoy retirement Jimmy boy.

Now is it just me, but if this was a Lib Dem/Tory MP the Rt Hon. brothers an sisters would be howling about how evil an racist they were. Closely followed by a statement from MCB about how MP's did not represent the muslim community, the silence is deafening...
