Fuel taxes welcome says twat MP: Environment Secretary Hilary Benn.

Look Ben, you utter contemptible little twat it is simple(not as simple as you obviously) but very simple. Your government has taxed fuel - thus leading to higher costs in other areas - almost to the hilt. UK Lorry drivers who aside from the tired old stereotype don't spend all day killing female hitch hikers but actually transport goods from a/ to b/ - and so keep UK Plc ticking over are being undercut by drivers who fill up abroad.

Were it just a case of petrol going up then it might, just might be defensible but it is not. The whole cost of running any form of transport is soaring thanks to your worthless shower, even the road taxes - another stealth tax detailed below - add to the household bills that we all have to pay. Maybe Mr Benn thinks that none of these people use their 2nd hand car for business, if that is the case I can assure him that he is wrong. Many self employed people can only afford a cheap 2nd hand car and by upping the costs of that - even excluding the fuel costs - that business will have to pass on the costs to the consumer.

Maybe he has not understood the basics of inflation or lacks the basic comprehension of cause and effect: Higher taxes = higher prices.

A Cabinet minister welcomed spiralling petrol prices last night as an incentive for drivers to make fewer car journeys.

Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said the high cost of oil helps force people off the road and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Business still has to travel, so where is the reduction there? Maybe Hilary Benn has not thought that through properly?

He also launched a robust defence of road tax rises for more than 9million cars - insisting it was right that they should also apply to second-hand vehicles.

Mr Benn's remarks triggered a backlash from motoring groups, who accused him of 'rejoicing in drivers' despair'.

At the G8 summit last week, Gordon Brown said he wanted motorists to switch to electric or hybrid vehicles by 2020 and a combination of petrol prices and taxes could help them do so.

But Downing Street, which has said the Prime Minister is focusing on the rising costs of fuel, food and family finances, is still likely to be dismayed by Mr Benn's remarks.

So Gordon wants us to drive wanky hybrids that are not green at all, costing more to produce than "normal cars" and as Mr Benn has fired his remarks it shows a total lack of joined up thinking from the government.

Mr Brown is so concerned about voter unrest that a 2p rise in fuel duty due in October is expected to be cancelled.

Motorists are being warned that petrol could reach £1.50 a litre this summer as oil prices keep rising.

About 60 per cent of the retail price of fuel is accounted for by tax.

But Benn states different here - highlighted.

But Mr Benn defended high prices, insisting they were 'acting as an incentive to everyone to try and reduce use of fuel and reduce emissions at the same time'.

He told the BBC's Politics Show prices were due to global demand and were a 'fact of life' that motorists had to get used to.

Mr Benn added: 'I think we're seeing people thinking more carefully about the journeys that they make, where they can do so.

Something that he, a classic champagne socialist has not got to worry about as he claims everything back off the UK taxpayers, the cunt that he is.

'This is a resource crunch. Making the transition now from a high-carbon, oil-dependent economy to a low-carbon future is absolutely essential and the countries that do it first will be in a stronger position.'

Low carbon, is that why Gordon was on his knees before the king of Saudi Arabia a few weeks back begging for some more like a one eyed Oliver?...

Mr Benn also dismissed criticism of the Government's proposed reform of vehicle excise duty, which some Labour MPs fear is fast turning into a 'poll tax on wheels'.

He said: 'If we're going to tackle climate change, there are some hard choices and we want to encourage all of us to choose less polluting vehicles.

In short Benn is admitting that the "climate change myth" is being used to fuck over car drivers.

'As three out of every four cars sold in the country are actually second-hand cars, it's important you have a change that also applies to the second-hand market.'

But Paul Watters, head of public affairs at the AA, said: 'Motorists will be bitterly upset to be told that the pain they are feeling is a good thing. People have to get from A to B, many have to drive to work, and the vast majority of trips aren't discretionary.

'It's also short-sighted to be celebrating the fact that people are cutting down on journeys, since they will be trips for meals out or to the cinema. That, of course, will be bad for the economy.'

Tory spokesman Justine Greening said: 'Hilary Benn seems completely out of touch with the pressures families are facing.

But Mr Benn is all for conserving the countryside, after all he has banned ramblers from his estates despite saying that he would open up the nations coastlines:

He is the Environment Secretary who has promised to open up England's coastline to walkers.

But Hilary Benn today finds himself embroiled in a row with ramblers after it emerged that there is no coastal footpath in front of his historic family home.

Instead, signs outside the imposing house on the Blackwater estuary in Essex clearly state "no public footpath", "private garden" and "please do not trespass".

Ramblers can walk along the foreshore at low tide, but they have criticised Mr Benn over the absence of access along a mile of sea wall that includes the estuary frontage at Stansgate Abbey Farm, the country home of his father, Tony....Link

Oh yes and he seems to worry more about mythic carbon problems than he does flood victims:

Hundreds of people who will have to spend Christmas in a caravan after the July floods are featured on a festive card being sent to the Prime Minister.

Student photographer Becky Jeal and Tewkesbury resident Julie Irwin came up with the idea to raise the profile of displaced families.
